For me what I do is my passion…a chance to explore the potential of design and my own creativity.
Design is, quite literally, everywhere. Every single man made thing in this world has been designed by someone.
Making things that are better designed is my opportunity to make the world a better place.

About Supersolid

Designing since 1999, Supersolid is the creative portfolio of Michael Jewell. Specializing in art direction, graphic design, branding, multimedia, illustration and typography.

I am passionate about all things relating to design, music, film, art, and creativity in general. For as long as I can remember, I have been an artist. It is all I have ever consistently and completely been devoted to. Music and the visual arts have been the driving impetus and catalyst in shaping who I am, how I see the world, and consequently, how the world sees me through being my means of expression. I love it. That's it. That's what it's about for me. I do it because I love it.

I think I was destined to go into graphic design as a result of my life long passions for skateboarding and music. From a fairly early age, while developing my skills and sensibilities,
I was consistently inspired by skateboard graphics and album art. These two interests have greatly influenced my style and aesthetic sense.

Professionally, I have worked on a broad range of projects for clients in many industries and my artwork has been displayed internationally.

Thanks for stopping by.

Approach

Great design is born from the process of observation, understanding, expression, and iteration: and these principles lie at the heart of all my projects. Understanding the target audience is crucial - make sense of the audience and one can begin to connect with them.

Great design also comes from understanding clients, their objectives, and what makes them unique…and in turn helping them understand those things about themselves. Authentic communication comes from confidence. Confidence comes from knowing who you are. Great designers are there not only to understand clients and their goals, but to also encourage them to evolve and see things from a different viewpoint.

I don’t believe there are necessarily different kinds of design, just different applications of design. Great design is not only effective problem solving, but it also requires creating a solution that resonates with people.

I believe that one of the keys to becoming a successful company or organization is successful branding. Great branding is, essentially, creating a distinctive voice in society, culture, and the marketplace. It is therefore the designer's responsibility to work with clients to develop their unique voice and position in culture, enabling them to effectively communicate with that voice in order to achieve their goals. A company whose voice is authentic, confident and consistent will resonate with society, impact culture, and inspire loyalty.
